Hotel and Breweries Walk, Fremantle

Orient Hotel Corner of High and Henry Streets

About This Attraction

The Hotels and Breweries Walk will give you a perspective of life in Fremantle during the gold rush of the late 19th century. Many of these historic buildings have been faithfully restored and recycled to give them a new lease of life in a contemporary world. Whilst many of these conversions were into office buildings and accommodation, many of the old pubs are still operating, and some new pubs or breweries have been established in old boat sheds and warehouses. This easy 2.5 kilometre walk is concentrated in the west end of Fremantle, beginning at the Orient Hotel in High Street, which was built in 1851, and ending at the award winning microbrewery, Little Creatures. The brewery is set inside a massive converted boat shed (that once housed a crocodile farm) right on Fishing Boat Harbour. This Top Trail is one of 11 self-guided trails in the heart of historic Fremantle. Other trails explore the maritime heritage, convict history, Fishing Boat Harbour and the cultural heritage of the Nyoongar people. Visit the Fremantle Trails website for more information.
