Roy (Malpi) Marika Lookout

Roy (Malpi) Marika Lookout is located at Nhulun, the hill in the centre of the Nhulunbuy township. The tower provides panoramic views of Gayngaru Wetlands, Gove Harbour, and the township, but more importantly tells the stories of the place. Enjoy the spectacular views of the unspoiled coastline, view native flora and watch for the many beautiful birds that frequent the area. Interpretive signage provides a brief history of the region, shares the story of the creation ancestor that once walked through this land, and how the Yolngu now manage their land and sea after a long struggle for land rights. To enjoy this lookout travellers must enter Arnhem Land. A permit must be obtained prior to visiting the area. Please contact Dhimurru Aboriginal Corporation for more information.
